Silver travertine is a popular natural stone in the stone industry and construction market; this stone comes in various colors, patterns, and density percentages; these criteria are important in defining the price of this product.
This article guides you to become a professional quality inspector when purchasing Persian silver travertine slabs.
Persian Silver Travertine slab quality grades:
1. Premium Quality
2. Grade A
3. Grade B
The criteria that affect the price of Iran’s silver travertine are:
Color:
- The more silver, the higher the price. If the color is more brownish or yellowish, the stone is categorized as grade A or B. Below is a picture of a perfect Persian silver travertine slab. Notice the Silver color all over the slab; there are no brownish or yellowish colors. The color palate must stay the same throughout the slab (or tile). The stone is considered grade A or B if there are too many color variations.
Straight lines without knots:
- Straight lines can enhance the beauty and harmony of natural stone; if the stone has straight lines, it’s considered Grade 1, but if there are various knots (as shown in the attached picture) or the lines are not straight, it’s a Grade A—B stone.
Holes (porosity):
- Since porosity is a key factor in determining travertine endurance, the higher the porosity, the higher the endurance of travertine, and hence, the higher the price. Stones with a low porosity rate are considered premium quality.
Cracks and veins:
- Cracks are one of the main reasons that a slab can break in various stages, such as production, transportation, or cut-to-size operations. The higher the cracks, the higher the risk of a break in travertine. Therefore, a slab with cracks is considered a grade A or B product.
Size:
- Size is another factor that defines the quality grade of the product. If it’s a big slab, it’s a pro for the product, making it high-quality. If it’s small, it makes the slab Grade A or B.
